Tai Chi at Growth in Motion

Dear Friends:
Some of you know that my work fuses many approaches to technique that permits authentic expressivity. In my studio, I offer the work of other teachers whose structure supports the values of my teachings.  A loved and respected colleague, Alan Hundley will be offering a four-week Tai Chi series beginning on April 16th for $60.  Class begins at 10 AM. Once we all learn this form, we can practice together outside in the natural setting of our own neighborhood.

Course Description
Tai Chi and Qigong for Health

Tai Chi consists of fluid, gentle, graceful and circular movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo. Breathing is deepened and slowed, aiding visual and mental concentration. The body relaxes, allowing the life force or Qi (Chi) energy inside the body to flow unimpeded. Tai Chi movements help integrate mind and body into a harmonious inner and outer self. A person living in harmony is more likely to be happy, fulfilled and healthy.

Tai Chi strengthens and mobilizes joints and muscles, improving physical fitness and mental relaxation. It is especially suitable as a therapy for all types of conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, diabetes, to name a few.  The movements are slow and gentle, and the level of exertion can be adjusted to suit each person's physical limitations.

In this course we will be learning a 12 movement Sun Style form developed by Dr. Paul Lam, a family practice physician in Australia. Dr. Lam, originally from China, has more than 30 years experience working with Tai Chi and has developed this style of Tai Chi specifically for it’s health benefits.

Interspersed within the 12 movement form will be Qigong (Chi Kung) exercises to compliment this style of Tai Chi. Qigong is a method using movement, breath, and visualizations that combine to help the flow of Chi through the body.
