Fanchon Shur, a pre-eminent movement artist, movement scientist,
movement therapist and poet, is the director of Growth in Motion, Inc.
since 1978 and the Fanchon Shur Ceremonial Dance Theater since 1974, as
well as a private movement therapist since 1983.
Her
choreographic ceremonies, including "Tallit: Prayer Shawl," and
"Purses, Pockets and Family Secrets" have been performed throughout the
United States. For her "ground-breaking" work in the Arts and
Humanities, she was inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in
1990, and has been the recipient of numerous grants from Ohio's Joint
Council of Arts and Humanities and the Ohio Arts Council.
She is
a certified Laban/Bartenieff movement analyst, Registered Movement
Therapist and Educator (ISMETA), a certified practitioner of Brennan
Healing Science.
As a pioneer in the education of the whole
child, she created "curriculum in motion" in 1967 in Los Angeles. Her
work FLIGHT, FIGHT, FREEZE! Moving towards Peace, stems from her
own personal encounters with rage, loss and trauma and is a work of
